Great Bedroom Themes and Ideas for Your Children’s Rooms

Are you attempting to remodel your child’s bedroom, but are having trouble coming up with ideas? Not to worry, our crew at Handyman Connection of San Mateo has you covered. We’ve put together a few fun, unique ideas that are actually quite simple to create with some affordable options. As always, run with these ideas and make them your own.

Ocean-Themed

If you’ve already got some blue painted on the walls, this is a great option to play off of that. If not, repainting can help tie the room’s concept together. Create the illusion of waves by painting darker shades of blue mixed with lighter shades of blue in a wave-like pattern. Repurpose old wooden boards or windows to create a “bottom of the ocean” feel. Additionally, place some fish and other sea life decals on the walls, or if you want to test out your painting skills, try painting sea life yourself. There are lots of templates and stencils you can find in home décor stores, craft stores, or online. This concept is quite simple in reality, but allows for so much creativity as you can bring your child’s favorite parts of the ocean into their room.

Sports-Themed

If your child wants to get in the game, try creating a sports-themed bedroom. There are many different ways you can tackle this idea, but we’d certainly recommend including wall decals in your plans. You can put a wall decal of your child’s favorite player, a scoreboard, or even a decal to make the room look like an arena. There are also some very inexpensive ways to bring the idea to life such as creating your own goal posts with foam noodles wrapped in plastic or fabric. You can also get creative with how you paint the room, or even install wallpaper to emulate the way the court or field of your child’s choice looks.

Space-Themed

This is a really fun theme to create as it allows for lots of creativity as well. Paint the walls a deep purple and allow space for unique patterns that create the illusion of stars, planets, nebulas, and more in space. There are lots of unique curtains that can help tie the room together as well. Do a quick search online for some really cool ones. You can also place glow in the dark stickers near and along the ceiling. There are also very unique night-lights and fixtures such as lava lamps in the room.
